The Druids senior men's program is in the early stages of planning a tour of Wales. Currently slated for the spring of 2023, the tour is open to all Druids men 18 years of age and older, with the hope that a few retired players might join in the fun and lace up the boots one last time.
As of writing, the plan is to get at least 3-4 games against local clubs across the country, with plenty of time in between to sightsee, tour local attractions, take in a few professional rugby and/or soccer matches, and of course enjoy a pint or two in the local pubs. Accommodations will be made at bed and breakfasts and hostels; not only are they the most cost-effective options, cramming 35 guys into a single hostel dorm presents an incredible opportunity to bond as both a team and a club.
The men's program is currently in contact with an English-based company that specializes in arranging sports tours. This company would take care of everything from start to finish, from flights and accommodations to games and excursions. They would also send a representative who will meet the group in Calgary before their first flight and stay with them throughout the duration of the tour.
Currently, the cost is estimated to be about $2500/person. To help get this overall price down, a fundraising goal of $500 has been set. Fundraising efforts have already begun behind the scenes, however new ideas and opportunities are more than welc
